The actor has Lily with his ex Kate Beckinsale and enjoys hanging out with her now she's grown up.
Speaking to Marie Claire magazine, he said: "She changed my life when she was born but as Lily's become more of her own person with her own independent life, I've realised how much I thoroughly enjoy her company.
"She's given me an insight into the pressures young people are facing and that rollercoaster ride of growing up with social media.
"As I watch her work her way through these pressures with courage, tenacity and resilience, I'm really in awe of her."
Michael added that he'll always be thankful for the support of his own mother Irene, who encouraged his love for acting.
"Mum comes to see everything I'm in," he explained. "She says she gets nervous, then forgets I'm her son and enjoys it so much that she completely loses herself - it's lovely."
