Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the 55-year-old admitted she was scared that her fiancé would no longer fancy her following her diagnosis as she had to undergo a mastectomy.
Earlier this month, McGiffen revealed she had been battling cancer for a year, and told the publication: "Mark constantly told me it [mastectomy] didn't matter, I was still me but it didn't really sink in. He also made sure I knew how much he loved me and that he still fancied me. But deep down I didn't believe him.
"But he did and although I loved him before, I love him even more for that now. Over the past year he has been there at my side for every moment, good and bad, from the very beginning."
McGiffen and Cassidy, 33, have been in a relationship for a number of years. They became engaged in 2008.
