The actor and his wife Blake Lively welcomed their first child together last month, but have not revealed any details.
The couple are notoriously private about their relationship and were yet to even confirm they had become parents when the news was leaked. In a tweet, which has since been deleted, a worker at the hospital where the couple were staying was said to have revealed the little girl's name to be Violet.
However, speaking to USA Today, Reynolds, 38, has denied the report, saying: "No, [Violet] that's not the name. I don't want to get into that but I don't know where that came from."
He did not reveal the name of his daughter.
Reynolds and Lively, 27, revealed their pregnancy news in October last year. The couple first met in early 2010 on the set of the movie Green Lantern. At the time, Reynolds was married to actress Scarlett Johansson, while Lively was in a relationship with Penn Badgley. Reynolds later filed for divorce from Johannson in December 2010 and in October 2011 he started dating Lively.
