In an interview with Now magazine, the 31-year-old singer said the couple "just fell out of love".
The pair had been married for six years before they decided to go their separate ways last month, but Hamilton stressed there was no-one else involved in the break-up, adding that it was the physical distance caused by their working lives which led to problems.
She admitted: "I sensed a distance between us and I knew it wasn't working. We were a husband and wife but we weren't living like a husband and wife because we were so busy with the kids and making sure they were happy.
"If we wanted to go out to dinner, just the two of us, we had to take the kids... Looking back, that time apart was responsible for us falling out of love.
"So when you're together and you have to work at it and do things to make sure you make the other person feel wanted and heard.
"I don't regret working away – everyone's entitled to a career and my job's always been about moving around. Riad married me knowing that. But eventually it did cause a lot of problems."
The mum-of-two also addressed rumours about photographs of her estranged husband and Geordie Shore's Vicky Pattinson, which emerged shortly after the couple split.
She explained: "I've deliberately avoided looking at the pics. Obviously it would be painful for me to see them.
"I feel that what Riad does now is his business. Of course it'll hurt it and when he moves on but I know it's inevitable."
When asked if the public nature of the pictures made her angry, she replied: "Hurt more than angry."
Hamilton announced her engagement to Erraji in September 2006 and they tied the knot in November 2007. The singer has two children from previous relationships.
