Restaurants Are 'Worst Places' For First Dates

A new study has revealed that a restaurant is one of the worst places to bring a first date.

According to Blake Eastman, founder of New York-based research and teaching organisation, the Nonverbal Group, said that the atmosphere and setting of the restaurant doesn't allow for expressive movement.

He added that because a restaurant is 'highly adversarial', it is better to begin a date in a bar before moving on to a restaurant and ending with an activity, like bowling.

Speaking to StyleCaster, Mr Eastman explained: "Movement is a great predictor of first date success. Dates are all about having fun and having a good time, so you'll tend to see that in good dates, people will move around a lot."

He added that a date should be spent in a place that induces movements like gesturing, moving back and forth and animation, which are all said to be good signs in a first date.

Eastman, who is an expert in body language, also insisted that there are tricks for those single men and women trying to meet someone new.

"You want to orient yourself toward others and provide value," he concluded. "It's always about what you can add to the conversation. Sit there and wait for something you're going to know about, then add something, instead of talking just for the sake of it."
