According to E! News, a source has claimed Pattinson's close friendship with the singer was just one of the reasons behind the latest breakup with Stewart.
Stewart and Pattinson have been dating for three years, but have split a number of times during that period. The latest split rumours come after the British actor cancelled his 27th birthday plans, which had been arranged by Stewart.
Speaking to E! News, an insider confirmed that Perry "played a role, as one of many reasons" in the split.
Earlier this month, Perry and Pattinson were photographed together after the MET Gala Costume Ball in New York, while Stewart walked alone on the red carpet.
It was also recently reported that Stewart was "insecure" about her boyfriend's friendship with Perry.
A source told Heat magazine: "Katy was Kristen's friend first, but she gets on with Rob brilliantly. It's clear to everyone that Rob's got a bit of a crush on Katy and she totally plays up to it.
"They wouldn't act on it, but it still makes Kristen feel insecure."
Last year, the Twilight co-stars faced a series of problems in their relationship when Stewart confessed to an affair with married, father-of-two Rupert Sanders. Stewart and Sanders met on the set of Snow White And The Huntsman, a film Sanders directed.
