The dancer is due to tie the knot with James Knibbs, a company director, and commenting on the engagement, she told Hello! magazine: "It was a complete shock", adding that she is "very excited, happy and proud" to share their news.
The couple met in November 2013 on a train that was travelling between London and Leeds. Lowe was not participating in Strictly Come Dancing that year after she had fractured metatarsals in both of her feet. She was on the train as she was heading to a meeting. Her partner meanwhile was returning to Leeds where he lived at the time, and only just made the journey because the train had been delayed by 10 minutes.
He told the publication: "I have to thank East Coast for being late. Getting that train was the best decision I ever made."
