Dating Firm Unveils Future Plans

Online dating firm Cupid has unveiled its aims for future operations.

In the first six months of 2014, the company reported a loss of £2.8m. This compares to £3.3m the previous year.

The loss has resulted in the firm saying it has now cut its losses and is to take additional action to stop a "cash burn".

In a statement, the group said "a review of strategic options" was now underway, with focus being made on maximising shareholder value in the firm.

Last year, Cupid sold off some of its businesses, such as its benaughty.com and flirty.com websites; but it is understood that the firm plans to launch its Uniform Dating website in the USA, as well as mobile site Tangle in the UK, next month.

George Elliott, group chairman, is quoted as saying: "At this stage, all options available to the company are being considered including further cost reductions and the disposal of certain subsidiaries or assets."
